SONG LYRIC

Peter Dizozza's

Free Psychiatry

How could your teacher try to make you write again

About some bad experience from way back when?

How could she make you recollect the troubles that past?

And was this paper really going to be your last?

I get this feeling like she's into your case.

She's getting off on problem only you have to face.

She's getting off on watching as your mind falls apart,

Which she caused from the start.

And then she helps you to her free psychiatry

While getting off on what she gets from you for free.

Forget the sobs.

Your life is being robbed.

Your life is being robbed

And you're not getting better.

In fact, you're getting drained.

Better? When nothing's being gained?

Better save your passion 'cause it's being bled.

She's calling it a cure but she's untuning you instead (as Byron has said).

She's draining you to help you but she's holding a cup

And she's drinking it up.

And then she helps you to her free psychiatry

While getting off on what she gets from you for free.

Oh

When I think of things we've done

And all that we've been through together.

What's the matter?

She tells you that her love is fine, well, so is mine

And who's the one you know

Will be there when the lights are low? Oh

I'm the one. Yeah, I'll be there

When everyone else is gone.

How could your teacher try to make you feel, my friend

Like maybe you and I should bring our love to an end?

Like maybe she's considering what's best for your health.

Like maybe she prefers to have you all to herself.

Peter Dizozza, 1979

I wrote this for you because after I had spent so much time hearing your problems I became  possessive of them when I learned you were sharing them with someone else.  How could you?
