Profile,
The Desert Gnats, these little fellows lead a quick life, and there are plenty of them over a pool of water around twilight time during the summer in Palm Springs. Whether examined from near or far, they are a visual definition of the word, ephemera. What the hell kind of life form are they and what are they doing to deserve such a relatively short life span? Apparently gnats have no idea of how long one can inhabit this planet, and they have done almost nothing to further the inquiry into the age-old question, Why Are We Here? They live a completely full life in a matter of months, and indeed bereave the early passing of one in their generation as all too swift in their greater scheme of things. Although gnats are murdered with relative indiscrimination by other life forms, those passings are attributable to natural forces as is any force beyond our control. Their real concern arises when one murders its own. It’s like a suicide to them. Very little more to add at this time. Desert gnats, we’ll come back to you. Now let’s welcome to the stage….
