Ambitious and serious successful singer/songwriter.  Wrote and recorded "The Man Who Sold the World," & "Diamond Dogs" as well as other fascinating (often well-packaged) albums.  Prior to the chilling health implications that began in 1980, he seemed to make a point of being thin.  Gave Nicholas Roeg an opportunity to exercise his prodigious, unique filmmaking talents.  Time!
