The Conference of Chief Justices (CCJ) was founded in 1949 to provide the opportunity for the highest judicial officers of the states to meet and discuss the administration of justice, rules and methods of procedure, and the organization and operation of state courts and judicial systems.  Membership in the Conference of Chief Justices consists of the highest judicial officer of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the territories of American Samoa, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

In 2005, New York hosted the twenty-eighth annual Midyear Meeting of the Conference of Chief Justices. On Sunday 23, 2005, the NY State Bar hosted a dinner reception for the CCJ Midyear at the Harvard Club, 27 West 44th Street.

Between dinner and dessert, Members of the Entertainment Committee of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, at the request of New York's Chief Justice, Judith Kaye, performed selections from past shows for the group after dinner.
